Awards



Faculty of Education has won various awards for invention and research done by the faculty in international exhibition and local expo.

In 2004, Faculty of Education together with Malaysia Examination Syndicate had designed a new assessment system for teaching and learning, the Classroom Assessment System for Teaching and Learning (CASTLe). CASTLe had been tested throughout Malaysia on 120 secondary schools, 700 secondary school teachers, and 240,000 Lower Secondary One and Two students. It has been tested on four core subjects: English Language, Malay Language, Mathematics and Science. CASTLe has won Gold Medal in 33rd International Exhibitions of Inventions, New  Techniques and Products, Geneva 2005; Silver Medal in Expo on Research and Innovation 2004 University of Malaya; and Bronze Medal in Expo on Science, Technology & Innovation 2004 Malaysia
 
Faculty of Education also conducted a research on 'Implementation of English in Teaching Mathematics and Science'.This study focused on the implementing process of PPSMI in the classrooms, to explore teachers’ and students’ confidence in executing PPSMI, to explore to what extent the training for teachers had helped teachers in implementing PPSMI, to evaluate the suitability of the courseware, and to identify the role played by the school principals and parents in making the implementation of PPSMI a success. The research has won Bronze Medal in Expo on Research and Innovation 2006 University of Malaya.

Another medal won through the research of 'The Impact of the Malaysian Grid for Learning (MyGfL) among Malaysians' This research was conducted in order to study the impact of MyGfL in fulfilling the process of life-long learning among Malaysians. Subsequently, the main focus of this research was to study the impact of the contents of MyGfL for the learning of children with hearing needs, for the community as well as for mathematical and science learning. Malaysian Grid for Learning (MyGfL) is developed by MIMOS as one of the portals for life-long learning for Malaysians. The research won Bronze Medal in Expo on Research and Innovation 2006 University of Malaya
