Department of Conservative Dentistry

Conservative Dentistry covers the diagnosis and treatment of sequelae of dental caries and includes the techniques and procedures for replacement of lost and defective dental tissues.

The subject of Conservative Dentistry is taught under four programmes; namely Operative Dentistry, Endodontics, Fixed Prosthodontics and Dental Materials and Dental Technology which covers the properties and behaviour of related materials.  The course begins in the first semester of the second year after the first professional examination and continues right through the third, fourth and final year.

Postgraduate programmes in Conservative Dentistry started with its first intake in 1997.  The MDSc is a one year (minimum) programme by research while the Master in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) is a 4-year programme leading to a specialist degree.
