The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya is one of the best
known institutions in Malaysia with an excellent international reputation for the development of arts and social sciences
studies. Officially inaugrated in 1959, the faculty is among the earliest established in the Kuala Lumpur campus of University
Malaya, consequently making it a pioneer in teaching and research in the field of Arts and Social Sciences in Malaysia.
Over 100 academicians, half of them PhD holders, mentor and provided resources for both undergraduate and
postgraduate students. To date, there are over 700 postgraduate students pursuing coursework-based and research-based degress
in Arts and Social Sciences. A groving number of postgraduate applicants from Asian, North America, Africa and the Middle
East are reviewed and accepted annually.
