The Department was first established as the Creative and Descriptive Writing Programme in 1976. This programme
was further upgraded to the status of a full Department in the 1993/1994 session, known as the Department of Media Studies,
in line with the development and new challenges in media and communication studies.
The Department of Media Studies offers
four major programmes:
• Communication and Journalism
• Broadcasting and Film Studies
• Publishing Studies and Multimedia
• Creative and Professional Writing
