The Master of Principalship (Executive Mode), is offered to candidates from private and government departments,
who do not have the opportunity to do the programme full time. The lectures for this executive mode are on weekends (Saturdays
and Sundays). Specifically, the objective of the Master of Principalship (Executive Mode) programme is to:
(i) open up the opportunity for those working and aspiring to extend their qualifications to Master levels
(ii) offer an opportunity to advance their knowledge in principalship and school leadership
(iii) prepare the educational and non educational personnel as well as aspiring principals through the Master of Principalship
programme
(iv) produce competent individuals in the field of research and school improvement.
Course
Content
The curriculum for the Master of Principalship (Executive Mode) programme consists of 42 credit hours, including a Management
Project. The course constitutes every aspect of principalship, i.e. leadership and school management as follows: Governance and School Management

Admission Requirements
Entry Qualification:
(a) A First Degree; and
(i) has attended the “National Professional Qualifcation for Headship (NPQH)” course successfully in Aminuddin Baki Institute,
Ministry of Education, Malaysia ;
or
(ii) A Post Graduate Diploma in Education or School Management and at least two years of experience;
or
(iii) A minimum of five years experience in the related field;
or
(b) Other qualification that is certified by the Senate from time to time.
English Language Proficiency:
Overseas candidates who wish to write their project papers in English have to fulfill the following English Language proficiency:
(a) at least a band 5 for IELTS (International English Language Testing Services) or a score of 550 for TOEFL (Test of English
as a Foreign Language) if the first degree was not obtained from a University that uses English as medium of instruction for
the first degree programme, or
(b) a pass in the English Language Competency Test administered by University of Malaya; or
(c) a pass in the “Academic Writing for Post Graduate Students” course conducted by University of Malaya.
Duration of Study
The minimum period of study for the Master of Principalship (Executive Mode) is four (4) normal semesters. Medium of Instruction
In accordance with the priciples of University of Malaya, all post-graduate courses are conducted in Bahasa Melayu and English
